NASSCOM, Karnataka draw up 'AI for Good Ideathon' challenge

Tech industry body NASSCOM is seeking innovative ideas in data science and artificial intelligence that can be adopted in areas including education, agriculture and public services.

In this regard, NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies) and the Karnataka government are jointly launching a competition, ‘AI for Good Ideathon’, which could be scaled out to include other state governments, the tech body said

.“The whole idea for both Nasscom and the Centre of Excellence is that artificial intelligence should be used to improve people’s lives. AI should not just be used for business,” Mohan Krishnan, head - Centre of Excellence for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, at Nasscom, told ETin an interview.

The submission of ideas — the last day for which is January 18 — will be for two categories — solutions that have been implemented by participating companies and practical, implementable ideas.

The first category is expected to bring in ideas from startups in the space, while the second category is open to citizens, institutions and academia. “The ideas will be evaluated on five parameters — innovation, practicality, feasibility, scalability and potential to have an impact of a truly Indian challenge,” Krishnan said.
